MOTEBII'S HYPOTHESIS

Our story begins from the truth that African Art is exoticised, it’s othered, and it’s never fully itself. Its creators are observed as suppliers, and not as authors. Many Kenyan artefacts sit in foreign museums or are sold as anonymous decor. Buyers who love African culture struggle to find functional, authentic pieces that don’t erase the stories of its creators. We aim to build upon the need for this direct access, especially to the afro-diaspora. We are a studio that recognises the time, labour and legacy of the pieces we present to the world.
